**Monoï de Tahiti** is native to French Polynesia, specifically the islands of Tahiti and its other inhabitants. This **authentic** and ancestral recipe has been part of the life of the Polynesians for more than 2,000 years. Monoi is made from the maceration of fresh **Tiaré** flowers (an emblematic flower of Tahití) in pure coconut oil, extracted from the coconuts that create the volcanic suelos of the region.
The traditional elaboration process is very specific and has been protected by a **denomination of origin** (Appellation d’Origine) since 1992, which guarantees its authenticity and manufacturing method. For a sea oil to be considered green **Monoï de Tahiti**, it must be fulfilled according to strict criteria: the Tiare flowers must be cooked by hand and macerated in coconut oil for at least 10 days. This ensures that the moisturizing properties and exotic aroma of the flowers will be transferred to the oil.
This oil has been traditionally used by Polynesian women to nourish and protect both their skin and hair, enhancing the moisturizing and soothing properties of the Monoï, making it a significant natural and cultural beauty product.
