The **Tahitian Monoi** has its origins in French Polynesia, specifically in and around the islands of Tahiti. This **authentic** and ancestral recipe has been part of Polynesian life for over 2,000 years. Monoi is made by macerating the fresh flowers of **Tiaré** (an emblematic Tahitian flower) in pure coconut oil, extracted from coconuts that grow in the volcanic soils of the region.
The traditional production process is very specific and has been protected by a **denomination of origin** (Appellation d’Origine) since 1992, which guarantees its authenticity and manufacturing method. For an oil to be considered true **Tahitian Monoi**, it must meet strict criteria: Tiaré flowers must be hand-picked and macerated in coconut oil for at least 10 days. This ensures that the moisturising properties and exotic aroma of the flowers are transferred to the oil.
This oil has been traditionally used by Polynesian women to nourish and protect both their skin and hair, harnessing the moisturising and soothing properties of Monoi, making it a natural and culturally significant beauty product.
