“CHONDRUS CRISPUS”
A red, purple macro-algae of the Gigartinaceae family, found on the Breton coast and discovered during high tides. This small seaweed of about 10 centimetres, with a cartilaginous consistency, is harvested from May to October. Certain types of Chondrus can be bleached naturally by drying on the dunes.
